Visiting Pilots

Although we would like to encourage visiting pilots, for both legal and safety reasons, flying at our sites is restricted to members only.

The airspace over Dunstable Downs is categorised as Class D airspace and the rules for flying this site changed significantly at the start of 2004.  It is now a legal requirement for all pilots to (a) be members of the DHPC and (b) to have been officially signed off as having been briefed by a designated club coach before flying at this site.

In addition to the legal requirement it is vital that pilots do not fly without having first been briefed for safety reasons. This is because of the proximity of the site to Luton Airport and the London Gliding Club. Annual member of the DHPC is very reasonable

Our club has worked hard to ensure that flying is allowed to continue at Dunstable Downs, please do not do anything to jeopardise this.
