DON’T FORGET !!
The DHPC Annual Dinner/Prize Giving and AGM is on Friday 24th February 2017.
This will be at: The Ship Inn, 90 Wing Road, Leighton Buzzard LU7 2NN from 7 – 11pm
Our AGM and Social get-together is going to be at The Ship Inn, Leighton Buzzard – 5 minutes walk from the Train Station. All are welcome – wives, husbands, significant others for lovely food, awards and prizes.
There is no charge for members just attending the AGM, however should you require any food you will need to order your food in advance using the online Order Form. The cost for food is £20, ticket only in advance – subsidised to £10 for DHPC members.
See the food order form on the ‘Club Events’ section opposite, and all food MUST be ordered before February 16th >>
Remember we need a good member turnout for the AGM – which should only take half-hour at most, if we don’t get enough members turning up, the clubs existence could be in jeopardy!
The Dunstable Hang Gliding and Paragliding Club (DHPC) is a popular club with about 200 members. We can often be seen flying at the Downs and also at our other sites around the Chiltern hills in Bedfordshire and Bucks. We have three hill flying sites; Sharpenhoe Clappers, Chinnor and Dunstable Downs. We also have access to a farm airstrip for SPHG flying (powered hang-gliders/ paramotors).
All our sites are Members only. This is due to the agreements in place that were negotiated to gain a right to fly these sites.
Please do not jeopardize this for us.
Full Members who wish to fly at Dunstable Downs, must attend the Airspace Briefing with the Lead Coach before flying at the Downs for the first time. Upon completion pilots are issued with a lifetime Helmet Airspace Sticker. Briefings can be arranged at any weekend or on the organised Briefing days as notified by email or the Club Facebook page. Contact the Lead Coach for more information. The Airspace Brief and other docs for download can be found here.
Pilots who do NOT have an Helmet
Airspace Sticker are NOT allowed to fly
at Dunstable Downs.
No Sticker – No Flying – No Exceptions!
Learning to Fly
The DHPC cannot teach you to fly. Our club is for pilots that have already qualified from a BHPA Registered School. You can only fly with our Club once you have passed the BHPA ‘Club Pilot‘ Rating at a BHPA Registered School. You must also have your own glider and equipment before flying with us.
For more in-depth information about learning to fly a hang-glider or paraglider from our Club Senior Coach – click here
Air Experience Flights
The DHPC does NOT provide air-experience days or tandem flights to the general public. Again, you should contact the BHPA should you wish to arrange this at a BHPA Registered School.

The DHPC and Luton Airspace
Please note: The Dunstable Downs site operates inside Luton CTR – Class-D airspace, which is restricted to all unauthorised aircraft from Surface to 3,500ft AMSL. We can ONLY fly in this airspace under the rules outlined in the Letter of Agreement (LOA) issued by the CAA. The LOA can be found on the GroupSpaces website.
